Fans of J.K Rowling wait in anticipation for Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, a film which is due to be released in 2016.
The main character, Newt Scamander, has yet to be cast, leaving fans speculating about who it could be.
About the Book
The book was published in 2001, and tells the story of the magic creatures which dwell in the universe of Harry Potter. Rather than J.K Rowling’s name being printed on the book, the pseudonym Newt Scamander is used.
This author, of course, does not really exist, but is supposed to have been born in the late 19th century and the book tells his story.
J.K Rowling wrote the book with the aim of helping Comic Relief, a popular charity in the UK. It has helped to raise more than £17 million so far, with over 80% of the sale price benefitted the charity directly.
Who Could Play Newt Scamander?
It looks like Eddie Redmayne is a real favourite to play the main character in the upcoming film.
After his success with Les Miserables several years ago and his fantastic portrayal of Stephen Hawking in ‘The Theory of Everything’ last year, many people believe his powerful acting skills will be ideal for the role. With odds of 7/4 on Paddy Power, many Redmayne fans will be surprised if he doesn’t get cast for this role.
However, others believe that Matt Smith will be the perfect actor to step into Newt Scamander’s shoes. Rising to success after playing the title role in Doctor Who, he already has a large fan base.
The English actor has remained in the spotlight for the last few years, being cast in films such as Terminator Genisys. Odds of 4/1 have put him in the second to top spot, according to the bookies.
Although not as high up on the table of bookies’ favourites, Henry Cavill could also be in with a chance of bagging the role, with odds of 25/1. This British actor wasn’t very well-known until he played Superman in 2013.
Fans thought he might end up landing the role of Christian Grey in the blockbuster ’50 Shades of Grey’, but we will see him later in the year starring in ‘The Man from U.N.C.L.E.’.
Heartthrobs Zac Efron and Liam Hemsworth have also managed to make the list, although with odds of 50/1, not many people think either of them will be cast in the film.
Charlie Hunnam, who managed to get the role of Christian Grey but dropped out later on, has odds of 40/1, along with Jamie Dornan, the actor who eventually played Mr. Grey.
